Highfields Guesthouse
The Guesthouse is a modern brick house with 4 bedrooms. The 4th doubles as a separate unit independent of the house, with an ensuite, shower, toilet and private courtyard. The main house is structured as an open-plan living area consisting of a large lounge area, dining and kitchen area.
The Guesthouse average 3 to 4 guests per stay depending on age, support needs and funding constraints. We provide flexible respite options where guests can stay for a short period of time-during the day only, overnight, weekend stays to a full one week stay.
The Guesthouse operates 48 weeks per year, closing for a small duration over Christmas and Easter periods. The Guesthouse is open 24 hours a day, six days per week from Monday 3.00 pm to Sunday 4.00 pm.
Backyard area contains a large fort, sand pit, and small basketball court. A Wheelchair accessible vehicle is situated at the Guesthouse for guest outings, and to transport guests to and from work if required. Children who attend school while staying at the guesthouse are usually transported by taxi, arranged by Breakaway through the relevant school.
A holiday atmosphere is encouraged at the Guesthouse, where guests are free to participate in activities in the home and within the community with the staff. Guests are responsible for any individual financial costs for activities. The guesthouse has 2 TV sets, 2 Video players, 2 X-Box game units, X-Box and computer games, DVDs, Videos, music CDs, a trampoline, and an assortment of books, children's toys and games.
